최근까지 내전을 겪은 시리아와 함께 북한이 세계에서 가장 위험한 나라로 꼽혔다.
영국 위기관리 컨설팅 업체 에이온은 사회가 불안정해서 투자시 손실 위험이 높은 나라 13개를 뽑았다. 주로 부패, 내전, 빈곤 등으로 불안정한 나라들이 뽑혔다.
에이온은 2010년 집권한 김정은이 북한체제를 유지할 수 있을지 불투명하다며 북한에 투자하는 것을 자제하라고 권했다.
북한과 더불어 아프가니스탄, 차드, 콩고민주공화국, 아이티, 이란, 이라크, 소말리아, 수단, 시리아, 베네수엘라, 예맨, 짐바브웨가 위험한 국가로 선정됐다.

North Korea topped the ranking, followed respectively by Afghanistan, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
While few people travel to or do business with these countries, they are the political and economic hotbeds where people can be murdered or killed in a war, or threaten to do the same to others far away.
