Police revealed Thursday that the person who helped prevent further damage by closing the valves on two gas cylinders after an explosion at an Incheon restaurant was actor Yoon Dae-yeol

The Incheon Seobu Police Station said the 48-year-old was walking near a building in Majeon-dong around 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday when the explosion occurred. He immediately rushed over, shut off the valves on two liquefied petroleum gas cylinders outside the restaurant and called police.

“I knew where the gas cylinders were, so I did what I could. It wasn’t anything extraordinary,” Yoon said in a phone interview with Yonhap News Agency. “Many others were helping control the bleeding of those injured or calling for help.”

A police official credited Yoon’s quick response with preventing further damage, saying an ongoing gas leak could have posed greater danger.

The explosion occurred while workers were dismantling the restaurant’s interior. Police suspect the gas supply was not shut off before work began and are investigating the cause.

Three workers and the restaurant’s owner, all in their 60s, suffered burns to their faces and elsewhere and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Yoon made his film debut in 2014 in “Kundo: Age of the Rampant.” Since then, he has appeared in “Asura: The City of Madness,” “The Outlaws,” “Hunt” and “12.12: The Day.”
