Posco Group Chairman Chang In-hwa on Monday called for sharper execution and a focus on sustainable future growth, as it pushes to drive new business development in high-growth markets. His remarks came ahead of the company’s 57th anniversary on Tuesday.
“Since our founding, we have supported national economic growth through steel, evolved into a global player and expanded into new fields such as energy materials,” Chang said. “Now, it’s time to take on a new mission and lead innovation in future materials beyond steel."
Posco must remain agile amid rapidly shifting industrial paradigms, the chairman explained, by swiftly executing plans, expanding core markets and venturing into promising new sectors.
“Harboring a sense of urgency — where passivity means falling behind — we must achieve meaningful results by advancing investments and future materials businesses in high-growth, high-profit regions such as India and the US."
The chairman reminded employees of the Posco spirit — defined by unwavering determination and wisdom in the face of hardship — and expressed firm belief that the company can continue moving forward by overcoming today’s challenges with resilience.
He further underscored that Posco’s growth has been rooted in trust — built through shared effort and unity with all stakeholders.
“Let’s move forward together with our employees, partners, communities and shareholders, united as one team, to shape a new future,” he added.
