The conservative minority Liberty Forward Party on Tuesday appointed a rehabilitation medicine professor and former medical communication expert as its new spokesperson.
Moon Jeong-lim, rehabilitation medicine professor in the Catholic University of Korea, offered her resignation to the school before taking her new post, officials said.
Moon currently chairs the Korean Society of Pediatric Rehabilitation and Development Medicine and holds directorial-level posts in the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences and the Korean Medical Women’s Association.
She also was the first female spokesperson of the Korean Medical Association, where she served for a year until May, this year.
“Based on my experience in the medical communication field, I will try my best to support the LFP in interacting with the people,” she said.
The new spokesperson succeeds Rep. Rim Young-ho, who recently stepped down in protest against the party chairman Rep. Sim Dae-pyong’s closed-door talks with President Lee Myung-bak.
