Kim Jae-joong of the JYJ trio has revealed that he will be releasing his first solo album sometime next month. According to JYJ’s agency, the album will highlight a new rock-inspired side of the JYJ member with the help of vocalist Kim Ba-da of the former rock group Sinawe.

“Kim Jae-joong has a natural talent when it comes to rock vocals,” said Ba-da. “He is sincere about music so because of that, I became really attached to this project while working with him.”

JYJ recently settled a tumultuous three-year legal dispute with their former talent agency, S.M. Entertainment. The members of JYJ were formerly part of the K-pop idol group TVXQ before attempting to opt out of the 13-year contact they had initially signed with the agency. The dispute allegedly hindered the promotion of JYJ as a group. Now that all the disputes have been settled, the group is said to be able to promote their music freely.
