We all carry something in this modern society, and some of the objects we carry are useful in protecting ourselves in emergency situations.
When you don’t have enough physical strength or defensive ability, you can still go up against an opponent using objects you have readily available. But these objects are only useful in defense and will not overcome an opponent in attacks.
1. Purse and backpack
As shown in the picture, purses and backpacks can be used as a shield from attacks from an opponent. These items can be used to either block or reduce the impact from an attack. Hold up your purse or backpack towards the direction of the opponent’s attack at arm’s length (approx. 30-40 cm), not so far from your body. Keep your item close enough to be ready for any attack.
2. Heels and sneakers
For those wearing shoes with heels or sneakers, the bottom of these shoes can be used to hit the opponent hard. When using the bottom of your shoe, whether it be high heels or sneakers, use it as if it were your fist. Use the snap of your wrist to thrust the heel to hit the upper body or square in the face of the opponent. In this picture, the woman is hitting the cheek of the opponent’s face with the heel of her shoe.
3. Belt
When the opponent is after you with a long stick or club, you can use your belt to block or secure the weapon instead of receiving the blow with your body. If an opponent attacks you as shown in the picture, hold up your belt to cross it with the weapon to stop it. The longer the length of the belt you hold, the better you will benefit from decreasing the chances of getting your hands hit by the weapon.
Other objects that can be used include books, jumpers, umbrellas and any other items you usually carry with you daily.
