Democratic United Party presidential candidate Moon Jae-in named 10 lawmakers and social activists to lead his presidential campaign on Thursday.
The 10 who will lead Moon’s campaign are Reps. Park Young-sun, Lee In-young, Lee Hack-young, Chun Soon-ok and Lee Nak-yon; poet Ahn Do-hyun; Youth Community Union leader Kim Young-kyung; former lawmaker Kim Boo-gyum; former director of NGO People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy Kim Min-young; and Je Yoon-kyung, CEO of the social enterprise Edu-money.
Along with the 10 co-chairs of the campaign committee, Moon established a high-level strategy group and filled the seven seats with some of the DUP’s senior-most members including former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook, floor leader Park Jie-won and party chairman Lee Hae-chan.
Sohn Hak-kyu, Kim Doo-kwan and Chung Sye-kyun, who ran against Moon in the preliminaries, will also serve on the senior council.
“The selection contains Moon’s vision of starting political and generational change through the campaign committee. This is an expression of the will to overhaul the party and politics,” Rep. Woo Sang-ho said.
Regarding the council of senior DUP members, Woo said that the body will serve as a “partner” for discussing strategies, adding that the council and the committee form a “revolutionary structure” in which younger members take the lead while those with more experience provide support.
