A 39-year-old man has been indicted for posting messages praising North Korea on his blog in violation of an anti-communism law, prosecutors said Wednesday.

The defendant, identified only by his surname Cho, is suspected of posting content created by a local civic group, such as statements and video clips supporting the North's "Military First Politics" and nuclear weapons programs, on his personal blog from April 2009 to November 2010, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said

The group, which has been ruled an organization that benefits the North by the Supreme Court, released a statement after Pyongyang launched a satellite in 2009, celebrating the "achievement of the North's advancement in science and technology," prosecutors said.

Cho is also accused of possessing a book containing popular songs calling for the abolition of the National Security Law, which bans South Koreans from praising or sympathizing with the North. (Yonhap)
