Asiana Airlines Inc., South Korea’s No. 2 flag carrier, said Thursday it swung to a net profit in the fourth quarter of last year due to favorable foreign exchange rates.
Consolidated net profit reached 21.6 billion won ($19 million) in the three months through December, a dramatic turnaround from a net loss of 66.4 billion won a year earlier, the Seoul-based company said in a regulatory filing.
Sales also rose 2.4 percent on-year to 1.47 trillion won, helped by growing outbound passengers and Japanese tourists amid a weaker Japanese yen. (Yonhap News)
