Hyosung Heavy Industries is partnering with Germany's Siemens to develop digital power infrastructure and AI data center solutions.
The company signed a Global Strategic Partnership Agreement with Siemens on Friday. The signing ceremony was attended by Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan, German State Secretary Stefan Rouenhoff, Hyosung Heavy Industries CEO Woo Tae-hee and Siemens Korea CEO Chung Ha-joong.
Under the agreement, the two companies will pursue cooperation in digital asset management, digital substations and integrated power solutions for data centers. The partnership will combine Hyosung's power equipment and engineering capabilities with Siemens' digital infrastructure and energy management technologies.
For digital asset management, the companies will develop an integrated monitoring system across all voltage levels. They plan to link Hyosung's AI-based equipment diagnostic solution, Armour+, with Siemens' cloud-based distribution network management platform, Electrification X, to detect potential faults, estimate equipment lifespans and manage power flows. The system will also support power load management and control security.
In digital substations, the partners will integrate Hyosung's power measurement sensors with Siemens' digital signal converters to accommodate different customer specifications. Such substations can reduce equipment footprints and increase automation, and their adoption is expanding in Europe and the Middle East.
For AI data centers, the companies plan to combine Hyosung's solid-state transformer, a power conversion system, with Siemens' energy management system. The solution will focus on power supply and energy management at data center facilities.
“We will combine our technologies to expand beyond power equipment supply and provide integrated solutions for digital power grids and AI data center operations,” Hyosung Heavy Industries CEO Woo Tae-hee said.
“By combining Hyosung's power infrastructure capabilities with Siemens' digital technologies, we aim to improve customer offerings and pursue new growth opportunities in digital infrastructure and data centers,” Siemens Korea CEO Chung Ha-joong said.
