Hana Financial Group has opened a digital vocational training classroom for students with developmental disabilities in southern Seoul, offering hands-on experience through robotics and virtual reality, the company said Wednesday.
Opened Tuesday at Miral School in Gangnam-gu, the classroom simulates real-world workplaces, allowing students to practice taking orders, processing payments and serving customers in restaurants and cafes.
The facility is equipped with a voice-enabled humanoid robot, virtual reality devices, digital kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, and interactive whiteboards. Students can also practice communication and problem-solving skills through simulated workplace scenarios.
Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo attended the opening ceremony alongside Miral Welfare Foundation Executive Director Jeong Hyeongseok and Miral School Principal Hong Jae-eun.
The group plans to expand the program to two additional special education schools in Incheon and Daejeon by the first half of 2027.
The initiative also provides career counseling and stress management training for students, as well as professional development programs for teachers and staff to help prevent burnout.
"I hope the digital career classroom will help students with developmental disabilities experience different jobs, discover their potential and grow into confident members of society," Ham said.
The project builds on Hana Financial's existing support for people with disabilities, including vocational training, educational equipment and employment assistance.
