A rapper who appeared on Mnet’s hip-hop audition program “Show Me the Money” was indicted without detention on charges of buying and using marijuana, the Suwon District Public Prosecution Office said Tuesday.
The rapper, in his 40s, is accused of buying marijuana and marijuana-infused gummies from a dealer in his 30s at a club in Mapo-gu, western Seoul, in November 2025.
Prosecutors also suspect he bought marijuana from a different dealer in August and used it several times.
The investigation began with the first dealer, who was arrested and indicted in July on suspicion of growing marijuana at home and making gummies. He allegedly cultivated marijuana from August 2024 to June this year and sold about 105 grams of the drug and 50 gummies, earning about 8 million won ($6,000).
While investigating the dealer’s case, authorities uncovered evidence that the rapper and another person had bought and used marijuana products, KBS reported.
The rapper was arrested in August, and investigators continued their probe before indicting him on Friday.
Footage aired by KBS showed authorities arresting the rapper in a residential neighborhood in Yongsan-gu, central Seoul, before searching his home.
Investigators reportedly found substances suspected to be marijuana and liquid cannabis. A preliminary drug test also came back positive for marijuana.
The rapper has publicly advocated for marijuana legalization several times, local media reported.
The Suwon Regional Office of Serious Crime Investigation Agency, which took over the alleged dealer’s case, plans to expand its investigation into other suspected buyers.
