Paris Croissant, the operator of bakery chain Paris Baguette, named Kang Shin-bong, a former Samsung Electronics executive, as its new CEO to accelerate customer-focused innovation, the company said Thursday.
Kang's career has spanned strategy, e-commerce and consumer-facing roles at Boston Consulting Group, eBay, Yogiyo and Samsung.
"Kang brings broad experience across consumer, platform and global businesses, along with strong change-management skills," a Paris Croissant official said. "We expect him to lead a new leap for the company by sharpening our competitiveness through customer- and market-driven innovation."
Kang will also restructure the business and explore new growth engines to secure the company's future, the official added.
At eBay, Kang oversaw cross-border trading in the Asia-Pacific region and substantially expanded the company's international e-commerce business. He went on to serve as CEO of Delivery Hero Korea, and then operator of the food delivery app Yogiyo, where he restructured the organization and its operations while driving growth.
Most recently, as executive vice president leading Samsung's direct-to-consumer center, Kang shifted the company away from traditional retail channels toward direct customer engagement, using accumulated data to sharpen marketing and the customer experience.
He will formally assume the role after the board of directors approves his appointment.
