Hana Financial brings private 5G to new Cheongna headquarters

Hana Financial TI, Hana Financial Group’s information technology services arm, has built a private 5G network at the group’s new Cheongna headquarters in Incheon to support flexible workspaces for about 3,000 employees.

Developed with SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics, the network covers 16 floors. Hana Financial TI led the installation, with SK Telecom providing network design and technical support, while Samsung supplied key communications equipment.

The headquarters completes the group’s Hana Financial Town development, following the opening of an integrated data center in 2017 and Hana Global Campus in 2019. Employees from 10 affiliates began moving into the new building in September.

The private network allows employees to choose workspaces suited to their tasks and project teams to collaborate in real time. Office layouts can also be adjusted as organizational needs change.

Hana Financial TI registered as a telecommunications service provider to operate the network for the group’s affiliates. Using dedicated frequencies and numbers allocated by the Ministry of Science and ICT, it manages network operations, service quality, troubleshooting and security.

To meet financial security requirements, the business network is separated from external networks, with access restricted to authorized users and work devices.

“This 5G private network-based smart office is a future-oriented work environment that allows employees to communicate and collaborate without being constrained by physical space while complying with financial security regulations,” said Park Geun-young, CEO of Hana Financial TI.

Park said the company would expand support for AI- and data-driven work and use technology to improve how the group operates.
