South Korean badminton star An Se-young arrived at Incheon Airport early Tuesday, two days after winning the world title in women's singles in New Delhi.

An, the world No. 1, defeated second-ranked Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-17, 21-14 in the final to cap a flawless six-match run in which she did not lose a single game.
세계랭킹 1위 안세영 선수는 결승에서 세계 2위 일본의 야마구치 아카네 선수를 21-17, 21-14로 꺾으며, 6경기 동안 단 한 게임도 내주지 않는 흠잡을 데 없는 완벽한 우승 행진을 마무리했다.
The win marks her second world title, following her victory at the 2023 Copenhagen World Championships, and makes her the first Korean player to hold a world title in badminton singles.
이번 우승은 2023년 코펜하겐 세계선수권에 이은 안세영의 두 번째 세계선수권 우승이다. 또한 안 선수 배드민턴 단식 세계선수권 타이틀을 차지한 최초의 한국 선수가 됐다.
Speaking to reporters at the airport on Tuesday, An said she was happier to win this world title than she was three years ago.
안세영 선수는 화요일 공항에서 기자들과 만나 이번 세계선수권 우승이 3년 전 우승 때보다 더 기쁘다고 말했다.
"I don't really want to think about the last title anymore, because that's in the past. I just want to enjoy this moment and believe this win will help me move forward. That's why I like this gold medal better," she said with a big grin.
“지난 우승은 이제 더 이상 생각하고 싶지 않아요. 이미 지난 일이니까요. 지금 이 순간을 즐기고, 이번 우승이 제가 앞으로 나아가는 데 도움이 될 거라고 믿고 싶어요. 그래서 이번 금메달이 더 좋아요.” 그녀는 환하게 웃으며 말했다.
The win comes after An withdrew from the Japan Open in July due to a left foot injury. She said self-belief was what carried her to first place at this championship.
이번 우승은 안 선수가 지난 7월 왼발 부상으로 일본오픈에서 기권한 뒤 거둔 성과다. 안세영 선수는 이번 대회에서 정상에 오를 수 있었던 원동력으로 자신에 대한 믿음을 꼽았다.
"With some lingering pain, I think I was a bit hesitant in the early rounds," An said. "But as I kept playing against world-class opponents, I was able to react better and find my rhythm."
“통증이 조금 남아 있어서 초반 경기에서는 다소 주저했던 것 같아요.” 안세영은 말했다. “하지만 세계적인 선수들과 계속 맞붙으면서 점차 더 잘 대처할 수 있게 됐고 제 리듬도 찾을 수 있었습니다.”
She also looked ahead to the upcoming Asian Games, set to open next month in Japan.
배드민턴 선수 안세영은 이어 다음 달 일본에서 열리는 다가오는 아시안게임에 대한 각오도 밝혔다.
"If I go in with nothing to lose and play with confidence, I think my opponents will tense up," she said, adding that she plans to carry the same preparation and mindset into future competitions.
“잃을 것이 없다는 마음으로 자신 있게 경기에 나선다면 상대 선수들이 오히려 긴장할 것이라고 생각해요.” 그녀는 앞으로 출전할 대회에서도 같은 마음가짐으로 준비해 나갈 계획이라고 덧붙였다.
