7-year-old seriously injured as moving lift truck tips over at Cheonan apartment complex

A 7-year-old boy was seriously injured Wednesday when a moving ladder truck toppled onto him at an apartment complex in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.

The accident occurred at 8:38 a.m. as a group of moving company workers were positioning the ladder against the exterior of a 28-story apartment building to move belongings up to an 11th-floor unit, according to news reports.

The boy was passing near the truck when it toppled, pinning him underneath. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is receiving treatment.

Police plan to book workers from the moving company on suspicion of causing injury through professional negligence.

“We will investigate whether safety regulations were followed, including whether the truck’s stabilizers were properly deployed,” a police official said.
