Top CEOs cluster in high-end apartments in Seoul’s Gangnam, Yongsan districts

Where in Seoul do CEOs live?

An analysis of the registered home addresses of 640 chief executives by local corporate data tracker CEO Score, released Wednesday, shows that many of the country’s top business leaders cluster in a handful of high-end apartment complexes in Seoul, especially in the affluent districts of Gangnam and Yongsan.

The most common address, shared by 11 CEOs, as of April was The H Firstier I-Park in Gaepo-dong, southern Seoul. Among its most notable residents is Roh Tae-moon, president of Samsung Electronics.

Nine One Hannam, a luxury development in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, ranked second, housing eight CEOs. Raemian Prestige in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu and Hannam The Hill in Hannam-dong was home to five CEOs. Outside Seoul, Pangyo Prugio Grandble in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was the only non-capital-area complex among the top-ranked residences, with four executives living there.

A small number of foreign CEOs were registered at hotels, including Josun Palace Seoul Gangnam, Grand Mercure Ambassador and Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam.

The survey, which examined the registered home addresses of 640 CEOs listed on corporate registries, showed that 67 percent reside in Seoul. Including surrounding Gyeonggi Province and Incheon, the share living in the greater capital area rises to 91.6 percent.

Within Seoul, Gangnam-gu had the highest concentration, with 107 CEOs, accounting for nearly a quarter of the total 429. Seocho-gu followed with 73, then Yongsan-gu with 56 and Songpa-gu with 36.

Only 54 CEOs, or 8.4 percent, lived outside the capital region. Busan had the largest share among non-capital cities with 11 executives, followed by South Gyeongsang and Ulsan with seven each. South and North Jeolla provinces had five each, while North Gyeongsang and Daegu had four apiece, the report showed.
