Multilegged walking robot stands guard

The Army’s 5th Infantry Division, nicknamed the “Key Unit,” conducts guard duty along a barbed-wire fence with a multilegged walking robot in the border area of Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, Saturday.

The Army is operating the robot as part of a pilot project through a ground robot operations team to conduct security operations in areas that are difficult for soldiers to access.

The robot, introduced as part of the Army Tiger future combat system, remains in an early stage of deployment but is expected to serve as a cornerstone of military modernization amid a rapidly evolving security environment.
