Ye to hold first concert in Korea in May

Ye has announced that he will hold his own first concert in Korea this spring.

According to Coupang Play, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West is to hold a concert on May 31 at 6:30 p.m. at Incheon Munhak Stadium.

This would mark Ye’s first solo concert in nine years, dating to his 2016 world tour. It would also be his first-ever solo concert in Korea.

Ye has performed in Korea twice before — first at the hip-hop and electronic music festival Summer Week & T in Yangyang, Gangwon Province, in 2010, and more recently at the "Ye x Ty Dolla Sign Vultures Listening Experience" at Goyang Stadium in August last year. However, the upcoming event will be Ye’s first performance in Korea officially branded as a concert.

The event will also be the first live showcase of his upcoming 12th studio album, "Bully," set for release in June, giving Korean fans an exclusive preview.

While Ye previously performed highlights from around 77 songs at the August event last year, that was planned as a "listening session" rather than a live performance. The May concert is to be a completely different experience.

Before the August listening party, Ye abruptly canceled his scheduled concert in Taiwan, raising concerns that he might not show up at the listening party in Goyang. On the day of the event, he arrived over 70 minutes late, leaving 35,000 fans waiting anxiously. Yet, once on stage Ye electrified the crowd with a medley of his hits.

Tickets for Ye’s May concert will be available for purchase through the Coupang Play app at a later date.
