Korean tire giant Kumho Tire has been honored with two awards at the 2025 International Forum Design Award, the company announced Thursday.
The Germany-based iF Design Award, established in 1954, is one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. This year’s event featured over 11,000 entries from 72 countries, which were evaluated by 132 international expert judges.
Kumho Tire’s award-winning concepts, “Volume” and “Origami,” received recognition in the Professional Concept category. These future mobility tire designs aim to enhance the driving experience across diverse terrains and environments.
"Volume" is a next-generation tire that dynamically adjusts its structure and functionality based on speed and road conditions, providing enhanced adaptability and performance. "Origami," inspired by the traditional paper folding technique, is a foldable tire designed specifically for space exploration and extraterrestrial settlement construction.
These groundbreaking designs were developed through Kumho Tire’s “Technology Outsourcing” initiative, a collaborative project with industrial design studio BKID. Following this achievement, Kumho Tire plans to further strengthen its value as a premium global brand by focusing on smart mobility and sustainable design innovation.
