Soldiers from the Korean Army's 5th Infantry Division and the US 2nd Infantry Division’s 210th Field Artillery Brigade deliver coal briquettes, or "yeontan," to households in need Wednesday as part of a volunteer event.
More than 100 soldiers from both sides participated in the joint volunteer activity that has become an annual tradition.

The event, organized by the Dongducheon Volunteer Center in time for the coming Seollal holiday, involved delivering over 2,000 pieces of yeontan -- the perforated, cylindrical briquettes widely used in Korean homes for heating until the early 90s -- to eight local households.
