North Korea lashed out at South Korea Saturday for its plan to increase the number of loudspeakers near the tense border with North Korea.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency said Seoul's plan is a provocation to push the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the worst possible.

The angry reaction came as South Korea's military is reportedly planning to set up about 10 additional loudspeakers near the border to boost psychological warfare against the North. South Korea resumed the propaganda broadcasts in January in retaliation for North Korea's fourth nuclear test on Jan. 6.

The North has bristled at South Korea's propaganda campaign amid concerns that an influx of outside information could pose a threat to leader Kim Jong-un. (Yonhap)
