A documentary on Ateez will air on Japanese television from Jan. 7, 2025, announced broadcasting station BS-TBS Wednesday.
“Ateez 8Face” will give fans an up-close and personal look at the band through eight episodes split into “Side A” and “Side B.”
The former is largely based on interviews with each of the bandmates looking back at their career from trainee days. The latter takes an even more personal look, following them spending time alone, from Hongjoong scouring vintage shops and Seonghwa enjoying a day at an amusement park to Yeosang learning archery.
The eight-part series is the band’s first documentary film and Hongjoong wrote its theme song, “For Tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, the band’s 10th and 11th EPs -- “Golden Hour: Part 1” and “2” – made Oricon’s Year-End Album Rankings, at No. 65 and No. 89, respectively.
Seventeen goes live on Disney year-end show
Seventeen filled the stage with Christmas spirit for Disney’s year-end special show which aired Wednesday in the US.
Donning red and denim, the bandmates performed “Rockin’ Around Christmas Tree” for ABC’s Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade. They are the first K-pop act to have a standalone gig on the show and also were seen riding a roller coaster at Disneyland in Florida where the performance was filmed.
The lineup for this year’s show included Elton John, John Legend and Pentatonix.
Separately, Hoshi and Woozi will form a subunit, the band’s third, according to a local media report Wednesday. The two sang the duet “Bring It” for the band’s second LP “Teen, Age.” The new unit will put out an album after BSS, of which Hoshi is also a member, releases one next month. Members Junghan and Wonwoo dropped their unit single “This Man” in June.
G Dragon donates to families in need
G Dragon of Big Bang made a 100 million won (US$68,200) donation to benefit low-income families, agency Galaxy Corporation said Thursday.
He was voted “most loved artist” on a year-end television music chart show that donated 100 million won under the artist’s name and he offered a matching grant.
He thanked fans for the Favorite Artist award, especially for seeing him as one of the “idols.”
The musician took to the stage for the show’s finale, suited up as Santa Claus, and performed his new song “Power,” followed by “Sober” and “Crooked.” It was his first appearance on the music show in eight years.
He made a comeback with the digital single “Power” in October after a seven-year hiatus and dropped another digital single, “Home Sweet Home,” which featured bandmates Taeyang and Daesung.
Kim Jaejoong marks 21st debut anniversary with single
Kim Jaejoong released the physical single “Sequence #4” Thursday in celebration of his 21st debut anniversary, agency inKode Entertainment said.
He participated in writing the words for the main track “Hoper,” a wintry yet poetic tune through which he portrays “yet another beginning.”
“The past two decades were a time of challenge, learning and correcting myself,” the veteran singer and actor said in an interview with a local magazine. The new year will be precious to him as he feels as if he is beginning anew, in search of what can make him grow further, he added.
Kim rolled out the LP “Flower Garden” in June after hosting the fan concert "J-Party" to mark his 20-year-strong career and his birthday. He also toured Asia and returned to television by starring in the rom-com drama “Bad Memory Eraser.”
