V and Park Hyo-shin‘s ’Winter Ahead‘ gets jazzier

A new version of the “Winter Ahead” duet by BTS’ V and ballad singer Park Hyo-shin was released Friday at 2 p.m., featuring a jazzy twist.

The official BTS YouTube channel also released a video of V dancing to the smooth jazz track, offering fans an additional treat.

Renowned Korean jazz ensemble Yoon Seok-cheol Trio contributed to the new track, enriching the original arrangement with fresh rhythmic elements, bass and piano for a distinctly jazzy sound.

Formed in 2009, the Yoon Seok-cheol Trio -- comprising jazz pianist Yoon Seok-cheol, drummer Kim Young-jin, and bassist Jung Sang-yee -- is celebrated as one of Korea’s most iconic jazz groups. This year marks their 15th anniversary.

The original "Winter Ahead," released Nov. 29, has achieved significant success on global music charts. The song debuted at No. 99 on Billboard’s main singles chart, the Hot 100, topped Billboard’s Holiday Digital Song Sales chart, and reached No. 62 on the Holiday Top 100 chart.

The track was also selected as one of Billboard’s “27 Best Winter Songs for the Season,” cementing its growing reputation as a winter classic.
