Actress Seo Ye-ji is set to return to the big screen after an approximately six-year hiatus with the upcoming film "Geumwoldo" (translated), her agency, B. Wave Entertainment, announced Wednesday.

In the horror occult film, Seo will play Kim Ji-hoo, who travels to the remote island of Geumwoldo after receiving a message from her mother and becomes embroiled in a series of mysterious events. Her character sets out to uncover the truth behind the strange occurrences on the island.

Filming is scheduled to begin in mid-November, with the film targeting a theatrical release in 2027.

Seo made her debut in 2013 through tvN's sitcom "Potato Star 2013QR3" and gained recognition through projects including the hit drama "It's Okay to Not Be Okay."

However, she became embroiled in a series of controversies in 2021 after reports emerged about her past relationship with actor Kim Jung-hyun. Allegations of gaslighting, school bullying, academic fraud and mistreatment of staff also surfaced.

After stepping away from the spotlight, Seo returned to television in 2022 with tvN's drama "Eve." She has not appeared in any dramas or films since.
