After an unexpected chart resurgence, Rescene hopes its newfound popularity will translate into lasting recognition for its music
After spending the second half of 2026 climbing music charts with older releases, girl group Rescene is now finding success with a new release.
Rescene’s fourth EP “Pulse,” released Tuesday, made an immediate impact, with its main track “With” reaching No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 chart just two hours after release, according to The Muze Entertainment. All five tracks from the EP, along with the group's earlier releases, also ranked high on the chart, indicating Rescene's recent popularity may have staying power.
The comeback follows a remarkable turnaround for the five-member group — Woni, Liv, Minami, May and Zena — whose 2024 track “Love Attack” climbed to the top of domestic music charts nearly two years after its release.
The resurgence began after a video featuring the members’ playful “Geoje Yaho” catchphrase went viral, drawing renewed attention to the group’s music. Their July remake of Kara’s “Pretty Girl” further extended that momentum.
For Rescene, the sudden attention has brought both gratitude and heightened expectations.
“We’re grateful that people have called us a ‘small agency miracle,’ as miracles aren’t easy to achieve,” said leader Woni during a media showcase in Seoul on Tuesday.
A small agency miracle, or underdog miracle in K-pop, refers to an idol group from a minor agency that achieves mainstream success against massive odds.
“(With ‘Pulse') we want to become a group that makes people think of the word ‘miracle’ once again,” she added.
Zena acknowledged that growing expectations brought pressure, though she described it as “a positive force” that motivated Rescene to practice harder and to push themselves.
May, meanwhile, hoped the attention would last beyond the group’s viral moment.
“We’ve received so much love recently, more than we ever expected,” she said. “We hope this won’t be just a brief moment in the spotlight, but that people will continue to love and remember Rescene for a long time.”
That sentiment runs through “Pulse,” the group's first EP since “Lip Bomb” in November 2025.
Built around the idea of a heartbeat, the five-track release expresses the members' gratitude toward fans whose support has helped turn their dreams into reality, along with their desire to return that encouragement through music. The lead track “With,” which builds from a gentle, melodic opening into an explosive chorus, captures the excitement of finally coming face-to-face with the fans whose support has helped the group realize its dreams.
Despite the group’s growing popularity, the members said they remain focused on establishing a musical identity rather than chasing specific chart positions.
“Success means different things to different people,” said Minami. “Beyond chart results, our goal is to leave a lasting impression through our music and performances.”
Woni said she hopes the latest release will further establish Rescene's reputation for music that listeners can trust, while also introducing a new side of the group's performances.
Liv echoed that ambition, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the group's musical identity.
“We want to continue showing music and performances that suit Rescene,” she said. “I hope people will come to recognize us as a group they can always count on for good music.”
