Rain fell across much of South Korea on Sunday, the first day of November, while snow was reported in the mountainous areas of Gangwon Province amid chilly temperatures nationwide.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain began falling across central regions early in the morning, while rain or snow was reported in mountainous areas of Gangwon Province at elevations of 1,200 meters or higher, including around Balwangsan in Pyeongchang, which rises to 1,459 meters above sea level.
Rain is expected to spread to southern regions and Jeju Island in the afternoon.
Showers are forecast to taper off by late evening in Seoul, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi Province and central and northern Gangwon Province, but are expected to linger elsewhere across central and southern Korea and on Jeju Island into early Monday.
Parts of Jeju Island are expected to see heavy downpours of around 20 millimeters per hour, accompanied by strong gusts late in the evening.
The weather agency warned that rain could reduce visibility and make roads slippery, urging motorists to exercise caution.
Morning lows ranged from 3 to 10 degrees Celsius nationwide, with daytime highs forecast to reach 11 to 18 C.
