S. Korea TOEIC ranking rises to 5th in Asia

한국 토익 순위, 아시아 5위로 부상하다

South Korea’s average TOEIC score rose to 682 last year, up four points from a year earlier and ranking 17th among 39 countries and fifth in Asia, according to the Korea TOEIC Committee under YBM.

YBM 산하 한국토익위원회에 따르면 한국 평균 토익 점수는 지난해 682점으로 오르며 전년대비 4점이 높아졌다. 이는 39개국 중 17위이며 아시아에서 5위이다.

The Test of English for International Communication, better known as TOEIC, is a standardized English-language test widely used to assess workplace English proficiency among non-native speakers.

토익으로 잘 알려진 국제 실용 영어 능력 시험은 비원어민의 업무 영어 능력을 평가하기 위해 광범위하게 사용되는 정규 영어 시험이다.

Germany recorded the highest average score at 851, followed by Lebanon at 850, Belgium at 780, Italy at 776 and India at 768. In Asia, Lebanon ranked first, followed by India, the Philippines, Malaysia and South Korea.

독일은 851점으로 가장 높은 평균 점수를 기록했으며, 850점의 레바논, 780점의 벨기에, 776점의 이탈리아, 그리고 768점의 인도가 뒤따랐다. 아시아에서는 레바논이 1위를 차지했으며, 인도, 필리핀, 말레이시아, 한국이 뒤따랐다.

Test-takers aged 21 to 25 accounted for the largest share at 43 percent, followed by those aged 20 or younger at 22.6 percent and those aged 26 to 30 at 14.6 percent. By age group, test-takers aged 26 to 30 posted the highest average score at 673 points.

연령대별로는 21세~25세 사이의 응시자가 43%로 가장 높았으며, 20세 이하 응시자가 22.6%, 26세~30세 응시자가 14.6%로 뒤따랐다. 연령대별로는 26세~30세 사이 응시자가 673점으로 가장 높은 평균 점수를 기록했다.
