Seoul named world’s 6th most competitive city
서울, 세계 도시 경쟁력 6위 선정
Seoul ranked sixth in the global major city competitiveness index, according to the 2025 Comprehensive City Power Ranking released by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation.
일본 모리기념재단 도시전략연구소가 발표한 ‘2025 종합 도시경쟁력 순위(Comprehensive City Power Ranking)’에 따르면 서울이 세계 주요 도시 경쟁력 평가에서 6위를 차지했다.
The South Korean capital placed sixth among 48 cities surveyed. Seoul had slipped from sixth in 2017 to eighth in 2020, but has since rebounded, reclaiming the sixth position as of 2024.
서울은 조사 대상 48개 도시 가운데 6위에 올랐다. 서울은 2017년 6위를 기록한 이후 2020년에는 8위로 하락했으나, 이후 순위를 회복해 2024년 기준 다시 6위 자리를 되찾았다.
The institute assesses city competitiveness across six categories: economy, research and development, culture and interaction, livability, environment and transportation/accessibility. Seoul ranked 16th in economy, fifth in research and development, 12th in culture and interaction, 25th in livability, 11th in environment and 11th in transportation/accessibility.
해당 연구소는 도시 경쟁력을 경제, 연구개발, 문화·교류, 주거환경, 환경, 교통·접근성 등 6개 부문으로 나눠 평가했다. 서울은 경제 부문 16위, 연구개발 5위, 문화·교류 12위, 주거환경 25위, 환경 11위, 교통·접근성 11위를 각각 기록했다.
London topped the rankings, followed by Tokyo, New York, Paris and Singapore.
종합 순위에서는 런던이 1위를 차지했으며, 도쿄, 뉴욕, 파리, 싱가포르가 그 뒤를 이었다.
