The singer offers refunds to fans wishing to pay respects to plane crash victims
Trot singer Lim Young-woong confirmed on Tuesday that he will proceed with his concerts in Seoul from Thursday to Saturday as originally scheduled. The concerts coincide with the week-long government-declared national mourning period, which ends Saturday, to honor the victims and families affected by the tragic plane crash at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province on Sunday. Despite the overlap, Lim decided to uphold his commitment to fans and organizers who had long awaited his performances.
“We express our deepest condolences to the victims of the recent tragic accident and their families. We truly share the pain with everyone grieving their loss,” Mulgogi Music, Lim’s agency, said in a statement. “After much deliberation, we have decided to proceed with the event to honor the long-awaited promise to our fans, as well as the efforts of the staff and all those involved in preparing for the performance.”
The agency emphasized that the concerts would carry a somber tone. “With heartfelt condolences deeply ingrained, we will prepare for this event with an even heavier sense of responsibility, striving to make it a moment of genuine comfort and hope. We sincerely hope that, together as one, we can overcome these challenging times,” it added.
Lim also offered full refunds to ticket holders, who choose not to attend out of respect for the victims, without a cancellation fee.
“Those who wish to refrain from attending the performance out of respect for the mourning period may contact Interpark’s customer service center by the day before the event to receive a full refund without any cancellation fee,” the agency said. “Please note that cancellations made outside the designated refund request period or not processed directly through customer service will incur standard fees.”
Lim held the first two of his six concerts on Dec. 27 and Sunday, the latter being the day of the plane crash.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of precious lives lost in the plane crash. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families,” Lim said during his concert on Sunday.
