[THE INVESTOR] South Korean shares traded almost unchanged late morning on July 25.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index shed 1.63 points, or 0.08 percent, to 2,008.71 as of 11:20 a.m.

Local shares had opened slightly higher but later pared earlier gains.

Large caps traded mixed with market kingpin Samsung Electronics losing 1.12 percent and major chipmaker SK hynix gaining 0.94 percent.

Top automaker Hyundai Motor jumped 4.26 percent and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors also rose 3.00 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,137.40 won against the US dollar, down 3.00 won from the previous session’s close.
