The first solo album from Blackpink’s Lisa will be available in seven different versions, according to agency Lloud Company.
She is poised to return on Feb. 28 with the LP “Alter Ego.” The physical albums will be a jewel case, a vinyl and five photo book editions.
The artist established her own management company and cinched a partnership with RCA Records, a Sony Music affiliate earlier this year. Since June, she has dropped three singles: “Rockstar,” “New Woman (feat. Rosalia)” and “Moonlit Floor.”
The first single ranked No. 70 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and topped its Global excl. US and her second single hit the Main Songs chart at No. 97.
She will perform twice at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as a solo act in April next year, as will bandmate Jennie.
Illit sends out holiday vibes playing handbells
The five members of Illit uploaded a video in time for the winter holidays.
They played handbells to the tune of “Cherish (My Love)” in front of a hundred snowmen, showcasing teamwork despite playing the musical instruments for the first time.
The twinkling sounds of the percussion instruments added a warm ambiance to the song which fronted the group’s second EP “I’ll Like You.” The mini album sold over half a million copies in ten days and charted on the Billboard 200, making the quintet the only debuting K-pop act this year to place two songs on the main albums chart.
Separately, its debut song “Magnetic” claimed the highest spots for a K-pop group on Billboard’s Year-End Global Charts, sitting at No. 61 and No. 29 on the Global 200 and Global excl. US.
Pentagon’s Hui drops winter song
Hui of Pentagon is putting out a digital single filled with holiday vibes, agency Cube Entertainment announced Tuesday.
The single “Whu Is Kevin” consists of two songs, both of which the singer and songwriter wrote. It follows three other endeavors this year: his first solo album “Who Is Me: Complex” and two digital singles, each seasonally themed.
“I am happy to show my charms as a solo singer releasing three albums including digital singles this year,” he told fans via his agency. He also expressed his wish to offer listeners shiny and heartwarming moments through each album.
Earlier this month, he picked up a K-pop male solo singer trophy from the 2024 Korea Culture Entertainment Awards. Billboard chose the main track from his solo EP “Hmm BOP” as one of “The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2024: Staff Picks.”
Riize recognized by global media
Riize's first EP earned nods from a series of music publications worldwide, label SM Entertainment said Tuesday.
Grammy.com chose “Impossible,” a B-side track from the EP “Riizing,” as one of “10 K-Pop Songs That Electrified 2024” in an article published online last week.
“True to their name, the group soar with a vivid discography that brings the best out of old and new sounds,” and the song “burst through the K-pop soundscape like a timeless classic,” it said.
The single also made Billboard magazine’s “The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2024: Staff Picks” and NME’s “The 25 Best K-pop Songs of 2024.”
UK’s NME magazine picked out “Boom Boom Bass,” the lead single of the EP, writing it would “be a crowd-pleaser in any discography but Riize make it a very hard act to follow.”
