Porsche Korea unveiled the new Cayenne Coupe Electric in South Korea on Friday, blending SUV practicality with sportier coupe styling as the German luxury sports carmaker expands its EV lineup.
The vehicle debuted at a preview event ahead of Porsche Vibe Seoul, a two-day brand event opening Saturday at Oil Tank Culture Park, a former oil storage facility in Mapo-gu, western Seoul, that was transformed into a cultural venue.
Friday's unveiling follows the Korean debut of the Cayenne Electric SUV in March. The model began sales Wednesday.
The Cayenne has played a key role in expanding Porsche beyond its traditional sports car business since its global debut in 2002.
More than 1.5 million Cayenne vehicles have been sold worldwide since the model’s launch. The SUV has developed a particularly strong following in South Korea, according to Alexander Fabic, vice president of individualization and classic at Porsche AG.
“Korean customers have embraced the Cayenne for many years while also showing a strong interest in electrification,” Fabic said at the event. “That makes Korea a very exciting market as we take the Cayenne into its next chapter.”
Since going on sale in South Korea in 2003, more than 34,000 Cayenne vehicles have been sold, according to Porsche Korea.
Porsche is now expanding the nameplate across combustion-engine, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, giving customers more choice as the company pushes further into electrification.
Fabig said the Cayenne has always sought to combine qualities that may appear contradictory, including “sportiness and comfort, performance and everyday usability.”
“The first thing you notice is, of course, the striking silhouette of the coupe,” he said. “Its roofline is inspired by the iconic flyline of the 911, giving the coupe a lower, more dynamic stance and the presence of a true sports car.”
He added that the model remains “unmistakably Cayenne, but with a different attitude —more emotional, more focused and more dynamic.”
The model measures 4,985 millimeters long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall. It sits 24 mm lower than the SUV version and features frameless doors, reinforcing its sportier proportions.
The Cayenne Coupe Electric lineup consists of three variants: the base model, the S and the Turbo. All are equipped with a 113-kilowatt-hour high-voltage battery, allowing a driving range of to 530 kilometers on a single charge.
The range-topping Turbo delivers up to 1,156 metric horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds.
The Cayenne Coupe Electric is only one of the many highlights at Porsche Vibe Seoul. Held under the theme “All Porsche, One Vibe,” the two-day event brings together more than 70 vehicles spanning the brand’s history, from classic and motorsport models to highly personalized cars and vehicles owned by Porsche customers in Korea and overseas.
On display are the 356, several generations of the 911, the 550 Spyder, 917, 962 C and 918 Spyder, offering visitors a look at Porsche’s evolution from its early sports cars to modern high-performance and electrified vehicles.
The event also spotlights Porsche’s personalization program, Sonderwunsch, with the showcasing of 911 Turbo S Sonderwunsch model.
Porsche Korea said it expects about 15,000 visitors to attend the event over the weekend, with a portion of ticket proceeds to be donated.
“What matters is not just the number of cars or the scale of the festival, but the people who create it,” Porsche Korea CEO Mathias Busse said. “Our ambition for Porsche Vibe Seoul is to grow into one of the festivals where we welcome Porsche owners, fans and communities across Asia and eventually around the world."
