New track turns viral elevator encounter with Tomorrow X Together into high-energy K-pop single
K-pop soloist All’N has released his third single “Ding,” continuing his violin-driven approach to K-pop while leaning further into electronic music.
Released Friday, “Ding” arrives less than two months after his previous single, “Dream Higher.” The new track blends K-pop and dubstep with electric guitar, bass, synthesizers, rap and violin.
The track also marks a return to the electronic style he worked with during his earlier career as a violin-driven DJ, following his time as an idol trainee in China.
Its title and concept, however, came from a more recent episode in his career.
“Ding” was inspired by an encounter with boy group Tomorrow X Together, during music-show promotions for All’N’s debut single, “We Up.”
“I didn’t know there was a culture in K-pop where you have to wait in line until the senior idols take the elevator back to their rooms first,” All’N recalled in an earlier interview with The Korea Herald in August. “I was a rookie, and it was my first time there. The elevator doors opened, and no one was getting in, so I thought, ‘All right, you guys are shy. Let me break the ice.’”
After he stepped inside alone, the doors reopened and the members of Tomorrow X Together entered behind him.
“As the doors were about to close, the manager opened them, and all the members of TXT came into the elevator,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh.’ Yeonjun heard me and started laughing.”
A video in which he recounted the encounter later drew millions of views across social media, introducing the then-new solo artist to a wider K-pop audience.
“I wanted to do something fun,” All’N said, adding that he wanted this episode to be more than a mere happening in his life. “I wanted to turn this story into a very catchy song, and I owe TXT and TXT’s fans a lot for this rare chance encounter because I got a lot more visibility for my songs through this story.”
According to a press release issued by SKS Entertainment, the elevator’s “ding” sound eventually became the starting point for the new single, with All’N turning the backstage memory into a track built around humor and high-energy production.
“The song really comes from a place of appreciation for a funny encounter that unexpectedly became an important part of my own debut story,” said All’N.
All’N debuted in April with “We Up,” which combined contemporary K-pop production with classical violin. He followed it with “Dream Higher” in August, a more personal track in which the violin took a supporting role.
With “Ding,” he said he wanted to push the instrument into yet another musical setting.
“‘Ding’ is more playful and electronic than ‘Dream Higher,’ as it pairs the violin with aggressive synths and dubstep sounds,” explained All’N during an interview with The Korea Herald. “It’s part of a broader goal of mine to take the violin into genres beyond those listeners might naturally associate with it.”
