Coupang’s estimated card payments topped 5 trillion won ($3.74 billion) in July for the first time since its November 2025 data breach, while its user base climbed above prebreach levels in August, data showed Wednesday.

Mobile Index, a data analytics service operated by IGAWorks, estimated Coupang’s credit- and debit-card payments at 5.09 trillion won in July, up 5.4 percent from 4.83 trillion won in June.

The figure was the highest monthly total since the breach. The estimates are calculated from card transaction data using an artificial intelligence-based algorithm and do not represent Coupang’s reported revenue.

Payments eased to 4.93 trillion won in August, but remained 12.6 percent higher than the 4.38 trillion won recorded a year earlier.

Coupang’s estimated monthly payment volume had fallen to 4.02 trillion won in February before recovering in subsequent months.

Its monthly active users also increased by 510,000 to 35.95 million in August from 35.44 million in July, according to Mobile Index.

The August figure exceeded the 34.38 million users recorded in October 2025, the month before the data breach. The recovery suggests Coupang’s user base has rebounded after membership cancellations following the incident.

Other major e-commerce platforms continued to lose ground. Gmarket’s estimated card payments dropped 25.9 percent on-year to 247.7 billion won in August, while 11st posted 241.4 billion won, down 3.1 percent.
