Three bakery brands are running a Big Bang pop-up at Lotte World Mall in Songpa-gu, Seoul, selling limited-edition piano-themed confections for the group's 20th anniversary.
The pop-up is part of a wider project Lotte Department Store is running with YG Entertainment through Sunday, which also includes nighttime lighting at nearby Seokchon Lake and a media art exhibition at Avenuel Jamsil.
Big Bang debuted on Aug. 19, 2006.
What A Bread, a premium bakery brand led by Kim Ho-gyeom, a former chef from Korea's national baking team, is offering three items. The Piano Crozzi, priced at 8,900 won, layers chocolate croissant dough with chocolate ganache and a chewy chocolate mochi filling, then coats the pastry in white chocolate cream. The brand describes the contrast between the flaky croissant and the mochi as the product's defining feature.
The Piano Sandwich Cookie, 7,000 won, pairs a chocolate cookie with a vanilla one and sandwiches chocolate buttercream between them. The Piano Brownie, also 7,000 won, is a dense cacao brownie.
No Bad Vibes, an American-style handmade cookie brand, is selling the Big Bang Cookie, 5,500 won, a dark chocolate dough studded with chocolate chips and finished with dark and white chocolate arranged as piano keys.
Drunken Dough takes a traditional approach. The brand, run by chef Lim Hee-won of Netflix's "Culinary Class Wars," makes sulppang, a steamed bread leavened slowly with grains and traditional Korean rice wine, makgeolli.
Its Piano Sulppang Cream Set, 14,000 won, uses plain and black sesame sulppang to form the white and black keys, served with mascarpone cream swirled in the same two tones for dipping. The set is sold in limited quantities each day.
The pop-up runs through Sunday at Lotte World Mall, B1.
