Daewoo E&C boosts nuclear portfolio with Kepco partnership

Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kepco Nuclear Fuel on Friday to enhance collaboration in nuclear power and nuclear fuel manufacturing projects both domestically and internationally.

During the MOU signing ceremony, Daewoo E&C CEO Kim Bo-hyun and Kepco NF CEO Jeong Chang-jin agreed to strengthen cooperation through joint research, technology exchange and operational coordination on nuclear fuel projects worldwide.

Daewoo E&C has accumulated various nuclear-related projects, having previously collaborated with Kepco NF on domestic nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities and participated in the SMART, a Korean small modular reactor, standard design approval project.

Since Daewoo E&C's involvement in the construction of Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 in 1991, the company has completed over 30 nuclear-related projects, including the first overseas nuclear reactor export to Jordan and radioactive waste disposal facilities in Gyeongju.

With its rich experience in nuclear power plant construction, Daewoo E&C is now preparing to participate as the lead contractor for the Czech nuclear power plant project.
