South Korean singer and DJ Koo Jun-yup expressed his grief over the death of his wife, Taiwanese actor Barbie Hsu, describing it as "an unbearable pain."

Koo, formerly of the dance duo Clon, shared on social media late Thursday, "On Feb. 2, 2025, my angel returned to heaven."

He said, "I am going through an indescribable sorrow and agony, as if my insides are being torn apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I wish to."

Hsu passed away from complications of pneumonia after contracting influenza during a trip to Japan. Koo and Hsu’s family brought her ashes back to Taiwan on a chartered flight Wednesday.

The couple, who first dated in the late 1990s, rekindled their romance and married in 2022, more than two decades after their prior breakup. Their reunion and love story had garnered widespread public attention, making the news of her sudden passing all the more shocking.

Koo also condemned malicious rumors regarding insurance and financial issues, stating, "Even before we have had time to grieve, heartless people are tarnishing our family and love. They are spreading false information to hurt us. Please, let my Hsu rest in peace."

Regarding Hsu’s estate, Koo said he had no claim to her inheritance and that all assets are to be entrusted to her mother.

"Hsu worked tirelessly to provide for her loved ones, and her assets belong to them," he wrote. He added that legal measures would be taken to protect Hsu’s children’s rights until they reach adulthood. Hsu has two young children from a previous marriage.

"The time I spent with Hsu was the most precious gift, something I would never trade for anything in the world. Protecting the people she loved is the last thing I can do for her," Koo said.

Hsu was a star in Taiwan who rose to fame with the 2001 hit drama series “Meteor Garden.”
