Foreigners invited to promote Korea

Nov. 1, 2017 - 15:12 By Yoon Min-sik
Visit Korea Committee on Wednesday launched a three-week-long campaign inviting foreigners to create content to describe Korea to international audiences.

It is part of the VSK’s effort to promote Korea, as the country counts down to hosting the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in February 2018.

The event, which runs until Nov. 22, encourages foreigners to create content that can best describe Korea and submit it to VKC’s homepage (http://vkc.or.kr/). The format of entries is not limited to any specific type of content, organizers said.

On Dec. 4, the VKC will announce the four winners, who will win round-trip plane tickets to Korea and a five-day trip to the country.

The winners will visit Korea in January during which time they will get a tour of Seoul, visit the Korea Grand Sale -- an annual shopping and tourism festival -- and take a “K-travel” bus to Gangwon Province, where the Winter Games will be hosted.

Upon returning home, the winners will be required to act as goodwill ambassadors for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and Korean tourism by posting related content online.

“We have planned this event in hopes that it will boost the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and Paralympics. We hope that it will be a good opportunity to promote the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and Korea’s outstanding tourism resources,” said Lee Kyung Hee, leader of the VKC PR Team.
