세월호 침몰 사고로 온 나라가 슬픔에 잠긴 가운데 신중치 못한 발언이 연일 쏟아지고 있어 시민들의 공분을 사고 있다. 사고 수습에 온 힘을 쏟아야할 마당에 ‘무개념’ 언행을 보이며 피해자 가족들에게 ‘대못’을 박고 있다는 지적이다.
보수논객 지만원(72) 씨는 세월호 참사를 맞아 “대통령은 제2의 5ㆍ18 폭동에 대비해야 한다”고 주장해 논란이 일고 있다.
지만원 사회발전시스템연구소장은 22일 인터넷사이트 ‘시스템클럽’에 올린 ‘박근혜, 정신 바짝 차려야’라는 제목의 글에서 이같이 주장했다.
그는 “세월호 사건을 맞이한 박근혜는 무엇을 해야 하는가”라며 “하나는 국민 에너지를 총동원해 사회 곳곳에 시스템 심기 운동을 옛날 새마을운동 하듯 전개해야 하는 것”이라고 말했다. 이어 “다른 하나는 안산과 서울을 연결하는 수도권 밴드에서 국가를 전복할 목적으로 획책할 ‘제2의 5ㆍ18 반란’에 지금부터 빨리 손을 써야 하는 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
특히 지 씨는 “‘무능한 박근혜 퇴진’과 아울러 국가를 전복하기 위한 봉기가 바로 북한의 코앞에서 벌어질 모양”이라며 “시체장사에 한두 번 당해봤는가? 세월호 참사는 이를 위한 거대한 불쏘시개”라고도 썼다. 그는 “제2의 5ㆍ18 폭동, 이것이 반드시 일어날 것이라는 확신 하에 대통령은 단단히 대비해야 할 것”이라고 주장했다.
또 보수논객 변희재 미디어워치 대표는 세월호 침몰 사고 소식을 전하며 눈물을 흘린 JTBC 손석희 앵커와 정관용 시사평론가를 원색적으로 비난해 물의를 빚고 있다. 그는 22일 자신의 트위터에 “표절석희, 표절관용 같이 나잇살 먹은 노회한 자들이 앵커들의 눈물 감성을 선동한다는 건 직업 윤리상 파렴치한 작태입니다”라고 글을 남겼다.
앞서 권은희 새누리당 의원은 지난 20일 자신의 페이스북에 실종자 가족을 ‘선동꾼’으로 몰아가는 글을 게재해 비판을 받았다. 그러나 권 의원이 퍼온 글은 허위사실로 밝혀졌고 권 의원은 사과의 뜻을 밝히며 해당 글을 삭제했다.
새누리당 서울시장 예비후보인 정몽준 의원도 막내아들이 페이스북에 올린 글 때문에 곤욕을 치뤘다. 정 의원의 막내아들은 18일 자신의 페이스북에 ‘국민 정서가 미개하다’는 내용의 글을 올렸다가 여론의 질타를 받았다. 정 의원은 21일 서둘러 기자회견을 열고 국민 앞에 머리를 숙였다. (onlinenews@heraldcorp.com)

A conservative critic came under fire Wednesday for making improper comments about a deadly ferry sinking that has left the whole nation grief-stricken for more than a week.
The death toll from the ferry sinking reached 139 people as of Wednesday morning, with 163 people still missing. Of the 476 people aboard the ship, most of whom were high school students on a field trip, only 174 survived the disaster, and no one has been found alive since the day of the sinking.
"President Park (Geun-hye) should be fully prepared for another May 18 riot, which is sure to take place to oust the president and to topple the country," Jee Man-won said in a posting on his website System Club, referring to the pro-democratic uprising in 1980 that was brutally quelled by a military junta led by Chun Doo-hwan, then an army general who become the nation's president a year later.
Claiming such repeated attempts by "corpse sellers" working under the order of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, he said the disaster of the Sewol is "a huge kindling of such a riot."
Jee, a former national defense researcher, joined the ranks of politicians and government officials who sparked public anger by inappropriate words and deeds at a time of national grief over the sinking of the 6,825-ton ferry on April 16.
Last year, Jee received a suspended prison term for defaming former President Kim Dae-jung, and faced fines for slandering then liberal presidential candidate Moon Jae-in. (Yonhap)
