Hundreds of top business leaders from South Korea and Russia gathered in Russia on Saturday for discussions on ways to boost the countries' bilateral cooperation, a South Korean trade body said.

The South Korea-Russia Business Dialogue was held in Russia's Vladivostok, involving some 350 leading businesspeople from the two countries, according to the Korea International Trade Association.

The talks, the ninth of their kind, were also held on the sidelines of a regional forum, the Eastern Economic Forum, aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and economic integration.

The annual forum brought together some 2,500 participants from 32 countries, including South Korean President Park Geun-hye who was also set to hold a summit with her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Park is currently on a three-nation trip that will later take her to China and Laos, where she is set to attend the Group of 20 summit.

"Russia helped establish the foundation for economic cooperation in Eurasia by spearheading the launch of the Eurasian Economic Union last year," KITA President Kim In-ho said in a keynote speech marking the start of the Korea-Russia dialogue.

"Bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the Russian Far East will create a new opportunity for their economic relations to grow in terms of both quality and quantity." (Yonhap)
