Hyundai to recall 62,319 Tucson SUVs for hood lock problems

June 16, 2016 - 11:21 By 임정요
Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest carmaker, will recall 62,319 units of its Tucson sports utility vehicle for problems with its hood lock system, the transport ministry said Thursday.

The model's secondary hood latch remains in the wrong position when the hood is closed, and, as a result, the hood may unexpectedly open while driving, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The problem has been detected in 62,319 Tucson SUVs produced between March 15, 2015, and March 15, 2016, the ministry said.

Free repair services will be available from June 30 at Hyundai Motor's service centers throughout the country.

The ministry said GM Korea Co., the local unit of U.S. General Motors Co., will also recall 5,756 units of its Lacetti Premier compact produced between July 24, 2008, and Aug. 31, 2010, for a defect in the engine control grid. (Yonhap)
