POSCO Engineering & Construction teamed up with Italian designer and architect Alessandro Mendini for the design of the exterior of its The Sharp apartments, according to company officials on Thursday.
POSCO E&C previously collaborated with Mendini in 2013 for the design of its apartment entrance and signboards of apartment community facilities. The collaboration took place again this year by including square patterns of different colors to enhance the visual exterior of the apartment buildings.

The company partnered with Alessandro Mendini, a three-time recipient of the Compasso d’Oro -- the most recognized award in industrial design -- to build a strong brand image of The Sharp, according to a company official.
In the meantime, POSCO E&C will host a two-hour design seminar with Alessandro Mendini as the main speaker on April 28 at the company’s building in Songdo, Incheon, at 2 p.m.
Mendini will give a lecture about color and architecture, while Chungnam National University architectural engineering professor Lee Jin-sook will address the development of the exteriors of domestic apartments.
