A global tech trade fair opened Wednesday, drawing various industry players from home and abroad seeking to show off their latest technologies, organizers said.

The Korea Electronics Grand Fair 2015 will run through Saturday, where around 800 firms from 23 countries are participating, according to the organizers.

The number of overseas buyers at the annual event is estimated at 3,000, who are expected to clinch around $1.8 billion worth of deals.

South Korea's leading tech giants Samsung Electronics Co., LG Electronics Inc. and No. 1 mobile carrier SK Telecom Co. will roll out their latest achievements in the industry at the fair.

Local universities will join the event and provide a glimpse of some 2,000 key technologies for the electronics sector. (Yonhap)
