The Irish Association of Korea is again running the Irish-Korean Essay Competition for university students in Korea in partnership with the Irish Embassy.

Participants are invited to write an essay on any subject related to this year’s topic: “Ireland and Korea: A Shared History of Storytelling.”

The first prize will include one month of study in Ireland’s Emerald Cultural Institute, including accommodation, flights and cash. Runners up will receive cash or cultural prizes.

Entrants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates and the competition is not open to exchange students or those whose first language is English.

Essays must be in English, between 1,500 and 2,000 words long, and should be sent to seoulembassy@dfa.ie. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 29.
