북한군이 최대 200대가량의 이동식 탄도미사일 발사대를 보유했다는 주장이 공식문건을 통해 제기됐다.
미국 국방부가 최근 의회에 제출한 '북한 군사력 증강 보고서'에 따르면 북한은 이동식 탄도미사일 발사대를 최대 200여대 보유한 것으로 추산된다.
한미 군 당국은 그간 북한군이 보유한 TEL의 규모를 외부에 공개되는 문서에 밝히지 않고 내부 자료에 추정치로만 명기해왔다. TEL 규모가 공식 문건에 공개된 것은 이번이 처음이다.
해당 보고서에 따르면 KN-02와 스커드-ER 단거리 미사일은 100대 이하, 노동 미사일 50대 이하, 무수단 중거리 미사일(IRBM) 50대 이하 등이다. 이는 우리 군과 정보당국이 추산한 최대 94대의 2배가 넘는 규모다.
현재 우리 정보당국은 스커드-B/C/ER의 발사대는 최대 40대, 노동미사일 최대 40대, 무수단 미사일 14대 등으로 분석하고 있다.
전문가들은 이 보고서가 미국 국방부의 정책차관보실 등이 주도해 작성했다는 점에서 북한의 군사력에 대한 권위 있는 판단을 담은 것으로 평가하고 있다.
TEL은 탄도미사일을 차량에 싣고 이동하다가 적당한 장소에서 미사일을 세워 발사할 수 있기 때문에 기습공격이 가능하다. 지난달 초 무수단 미사일 2기가 이동식 발사 차량에 실려 함경남도 동한만 지역으로 이동, 군 당국이 정보감시태세를 강화하기도 했다.
미 국방부는 또 북한이 방사포 5100문을 보유한 것으로 평가했다. 이는 우리군이 발간한 '2012년 국방백서'에 명기된 4800문보다 300문이 늘어난 수치다.
북한은 107㎜, 122㎜, 240㎜ 등 세 종류의 방사포를 보유하고 있고, 이중 사거리 20㎞ 이상의 122㎜ 방사포는 지난 2010년 연평도 포격도발 때 동원한 바 있다. (코리아헤럴드)

North Korea could have as many as 200 mobile missile launchers, a report showed Friday, nearly double the number previously estimated by Seoul authorities.
According to the report submitted to the U.S. Congress by the Pentagon, North Korea appears to have accumulated up to 200 so-called transporter erector launchers, including up to 100 for short-range Scud missiles, 50 for medium-range Nodong missiles and 50 for long-range Musudan missiles, the state-run Korea Institute for Defense Analyses said.
South Korea's military and intelligence authorities previously estimated that the communist country appeared to possess a maximum of 94 mobile launchers.
It is the first time that South Korea or the U.S. has made public the number of North Korean TELs in an official document.
"The U.S. report shows that North Korea is bent on expanding its missile program despite its continued economic difficulties," said Kim Sung-kurl, a researcher at KIDA. "It is especially focused on certain asymmetric areas that can pose a threat to South Korea and U.S. forces stationed in the South."
It also appears that the North is strengthening its military capabilities in an attempt to tame internal dissent and preserve its regime, he said.
