What’s hot this summer?

June 29, 2012 - 20:43 By Claire Lee
How do you look refined and fresh under the scorching heat?

Check out the latest summer make-up trends forecast by the experts.

According to Byeon Myeong-suk, principal makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics Korea, the key is to look healthy and sophisticated at the same time.

“The trend is to have pops of neon color and a metallic touch on fresh, healthy-looking skin,” said Byeon.

One of the two sample looks given by MAC Cosmetics Korea consists of applying neon baby blue eye shadow, black eyeliner and neon pink lipstick. It is important not to go de trop with the colors ― the neon touches should only be applied on the eyes and the lips, not anywhere else.

Metallic bronze make-up is also in for this summer, with metallic brown eye shadows, a brown-colored eyeliner pencil and coral lipstick.

Meanwhile, Giorgio Armani’s summer 2012 collection is inspired by the moonlight and the ocean. The “Ecailles” collection introduces a summer look which consists of many shades of pearly blue, grey and pink.

“This collection is inspired by the play of moonlight on the ocean, by myriad shades from inky depths, by white and black pearls,” said Linda Cantello, Giorgio Armani Cosmetics’ international make-up artist.

“The complexion is pale and luminous, lips are soft and feminine.”

The look can be obtained by applying pearly pink or blue eye shadows, a thin, black eye liner and a sheer pink lip gloss.
