A window to South Korea-Vietnam relations, the “2014 Vietnamese Film Festival,” will kick off in Seoul on Aug. 16.

Hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea and sponsored by CJ CGV, CJ E&M and the film sector of Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the film festival seeks to broaden cultural exchange between the two countries.

The festival will show five Vietnamese films ranging from sweet rom-com to chilling horror. Romantic comedy “How To Fight In Six Inch Heels” (2013), horror thriller “Scandal” (2012), martial arts action fantasy “Blood Letter” (2012), dramatic film “Adrift” (2009) and war film “The White Silk Dress” (2006) will be screened at Yeouido CGV and Guro CGV, both located in Seoul.

To celebrate the festival, Korean actor Yeo Jin-goo and Vietnamese actress Van Trang, the honorary ambassadors for the “2014 Vietnamese Film Festival,” are to meet with local fans on Aug. 17 at Guro CGV.

The three-day festival will offer film fans low ticket prices at 4,000 won ($3.85) and give out vouchers to Vietnamese restaurants to selected audience with tickets bought in advance.
