SKT to hire interns based on SNS skills

April 10, 2012 - 19:38 By Korea Herald
SK Telecom said Tuesday that it will hire interns based on their ability to use social networking services without considering their grades, English ability or other specifications.

The whole process of selection, except the final interview, will be disclosed through SNS to be shared with Internet users ― an unprecedented attempt among Korean companies, the nation’s largest telecom carrier said.

Applicants, after submitting applications through the company’s Facebook account, are to participate in several phases of an open audition between April 25 and May 17.

They will earn points depending on the number of comments and positive reviews they receive while completing each mission using SNS.

The company said that the finalists will work as “social managers” who operate its online and offline media channels, and communicate directly with customers and businesses for six weeks from June 18.

“Even though we need to select talented people in diverse sectors, there have been difficulties to do that through the existing selection process,” an SK Telecom official said.

“Our new attempt is expected to have a positive impact on hiring good workers.”
