Injured LPGA star Park In-bee to take one month off from touring

April 18, 2016 - 17:25 By KH디지털2
Park In-bee, the world's No. 2-ranked female golfer from South Korea, will take one month from the LPGA Tour to rest and treat a hand injury, her agency announced Monday.

Galaxia SM said Park has pulled out of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic scheduled for this week in San Francisco. She will also skip next week's Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in Irving, Texas, foregoing a chance to defend her title.

Park wasn't planning to enter the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic from May 5-8 in Pratville, Alabama. The agency said Park's next LPGA event will be Kingsmill Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia, starting on May 19.

Park recently suffered a strained ligament near her left thumb. Though the injury isn't considered serious, doctors have recommended rest, according to the agency.

Park, ranked second in the world behind teenage sensation Lydia Ko, has had an injury-plagued 2016 season. She withdrew from the season opener, Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, after one round with a back injury and missed nearly a month of action.

Since coming back from the back ailment, Park has played in six events and posted two top-10 finishes.

Park is scheduled to return home later Monday to start rehab for her hand injury. (Yonhap)
